Congratulations to our very own Mink, Eden King! We're so proud of you!

Meet Team Second Grade!
My name is Kayla Cate. This is my 1st year at Calhoun but my 12th year teaching. I taught Pre-K for 8 years before moving to 2nd grade 3 years ago and I love it. Calhoun is where I spent my childhood years and I’m glad to be returning home this year. I live on a farm with my husband and our 2 dogs and 2 cats. I enjoy going out to eat, exercising, going to concerts, and spending time with my friends and family.
My name is Ashlee Locke, and I am a second grade teacher at Calhoun Elementary! This is my second year of teaching but first year as a teacher at Calhoun. I also did my student teaching here in fourth grade. I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Lee University in Spring of 2022. When I’m not teaching, I love to read and travel. I grew up in Etowah, but I now reside in Cleveland. I am very happy to be here at Calhoun Elementary with such a warm, welcoming faculty and staff and having the opportunity to teach my amazing students! It will be a wonderful school year!

When studying "Accidental Inventions," it might be necessary to invent your own duplication! Great job, Minks!

Mrs. Keylon's 8th Grade Science classes tested their engineering skills with the annual Egg Drop this morning.

While your favorite team might take the field tonight or Saturday, we have team building taking place in first grade!
From Mrs. Mary's Class:
We are building cup towers learning about habits of character (focusing on collaboration today) this week!

Huge "thank you" to MCEF and Capstar Bank for their contribution to our Comfort Closet at Calhoun School! Pictured are Ginger Robinson and Kathy Daugherty with MCEF and Jeff Cunningham with Capstar Bank along with Mr. Franks.

4th Graders proudly displayed their scientific models for our Family Night. Great work, Minks!

Calhoun School hosted Family Night where 275 Minks attended! Huge thank you to Creative Discovery Museum for providing our activities funded by TVA. Meetings went well, food was delicious, and activities were educational and fun! We're ready for the next one!

Today we are saying goodbye to a Calhoun legend. Mrs. Rosetta is retiring today. To know her is to love her. We can fill her spot, but we’ll never be able to replace her. If you see her, wish her happy trails with many years of health and happiness. Once a Mink, Always a Mink!
-Mr. Franks

Meet Team PreK!
My name is Chelsie Million, and I am proudly teaching Pre-k at Calhoun! I married my high school sweetheart, and we have a son together. We live on a 64 acre farm (that's more like a zoo) in Englewood. I graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan University with my bachelor's in Early Childhood Education and from Arkansas State University with my Masters. This is my 8th year teaching Pre-k but new to this district. I am so excited to be in a new school with all new faculty and staff to meet and of course my new students and families within my class. We will have a wonderful school year!
My name is Robin Walker. I am Calhoun’s PreK Aide. I live on a ridge in a log cabin with my husband of 43 years. We have 1 daughter and 2 sons. All my children attended Calhoun! We are now grandparents to 5 boys and 3 girls. This is my 6th year in pre-k, and I subbed for 7 years before that. I love to cook and ride around in our 1930 model A truck and our 1930 coupe. We attend Cleveland First Baptist and enjoy time with our family.

We would like to thank CapStar Bank and Junior Achievement representative Gena Shirk for coming to conduct a lesson with our fifth graders today!

To help us with afternoon pick up on lower grade side, please read the following

3. Stay in vehicle. If assistance is needed for buckling or storing belongings, please pull past gate and into a parking space
4. Anyone remaining after 3:20 will be walked to afternoon bus duty.
5. Gravel parking lot dismissal (for grades 4-8 only) ends at 3:10. Anyone remaining after this time will be walked to afternoon bus duty.

Upcoming dates to note

Thank you, Calhoun PTO, for the cool treats today!

Great things happening at CES!
We are loving our EUDAX Electricity and Magnetism Kits!! We learned about simple electrical circuits and were able to build our own. We are excited about using these kits for more fun projects throughout the year in Flex Lab.
