Due to the extremely low and dangerous temperatures forecasted for Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 21 and 22, McMinn County Schools will be closed. As always, the safety of our students and staff is our number one priority. Low temperatures combined with the wind chill pose significant challenges for students waiting outside on busses, as well as the operation of busses and our buildings.
We encourage all of our families and staff to take any and all measures to stay warm during this time of extreme weather.

Out of an abundance of caution, McMinn County Schools will remain closed on Friday, January 17. We appreciate the work the McMinn County Highway Department has done to clear the secondary roads. However, a number of roads still remain unsafe for busses and student drivers to travel on.
The Calhoun Spelling Bee originally scheduled for tomorrow will be moved to January 24.
County basketball tournament games at McMinn Co High School WILL take place.
Despite great efforts throughout the day today, a large number of secondary roads still remain impassable for our busses. McMinn County Schools will remain closed on Thursday, January 16. We understand the inconvenience this may cause, but the safety of our students and staff is always our top priority.

McMinn Schools personnel have been diligently checking road conditions throughout the day. While conditions have improved, a number of secondary roads continue to remain inaccessible to MCS buses. With the safety of our staff and students in mind, McMinn County Schools will remain CLOSED on Wednesday, January 15.

Tomorrow night’s basketball game against Englewood has been canceled and will not be rescheduled since tournament begins next weekend.

We have a parent volunteer willing to take entries from Calhoun to the 4-H office on contest day. Students should have entries to the front office by 8:15. Please follow all directions about containers and labelling.

Calhoun's 8th Grade Class is hosting an 80's themed dance for the entire family on Saturday, January 25th from 6 - 9 pm. Tickets are $10 each. The public is invited to attend. All proceeds fund 8th grade's end-of-year trip. Tickets are on sale now! 8th graders will be set up during morning bus duty selling tickets. It will be a totally rad time! Don't miss it!
